From garage company to global enterprise AMG has undergone an amazing transformation. In 1967, the company's founders Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher began in Großaspach with a great deal of courage and intrepid creativity to do what no one had dared to do before: make Mercedes automobiles faster. As a pioneer in this industry, AMG went its own way for almost four decades and quickly made a name for itself on the racetracks of the world. AMG has remained true to this philosophy to this day. But it was not least the bond with the parent company DaimlerChrysler that transformed the two-man operation into a global company with 700 employees, which today produces and sells around 20,000 desirable high-performance vehicles every year.
